The accessibility of the built environment is a key element to ensure the effective participation of EU citizens in everyday life, as well as the suitability of buildings, streets, parks, to being effectively used by people in view of their disabilities or age.
The standardization mandate from the European Commission, M/420, addressed to CEN, CENELEC and ETSI, in line with the EU Disability Strategy 2010-2020, supports accessibility in the built environment. The work is financed by an EC/EFTA Specific Grant Agreement for Action.
