European Standards developed by CEN and CENELEC set out requirements for textiles and various products that are used by people in their daily lives, including clothes, fashion accessories, shoes and leather goods.
These standards support the implementation of relevant EU legislation, including the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR EU 2023/988) and Regulation (EU) 1007/2011 on textile fibre names and related labelling. Various stakeholders are involved in the TCs’ work including fashion and clothing companies, manufacturers and distributors, consumer representatives, testing laboratories, research institutes and market surveillance authorities.
