Hydrogen can support the decarbonisation of industry, transport, power generation and buildings across Europe as well as facilitating large-scale integration of renewables, enabling grid balancing as well as the decarbonisation of natural gas through innovative technologies.
Hydrogen is a cross-cutting topic with high relevance for different (50+) CEN and CENELEC Technical Committees dealing with production, storage, transport and distribution, measurement and use of hydrogen from renewable energy sources and other sources. The CEN-CENELEC Coordination Group on Hydrogen brings together the expertise from the various sectors to provide for an effective and efficient standardization in the field of hydrogen that often goes beyond the scope of a single technical committee.
The CEN-CENELEC Coordination Group on Hydrogen has the responsibility to coordinate the work programme for Standardization Requests on hydrogen together with the responsible CEN and CENELEC Technical Committees, to set the priorities and align them with EU Authorities’ objectives, and to accelerate the implementation of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance (ECH2A) Roadmap on Hydrogen Standardisation.
The standardization deliverables are produced by CEN and CENELEC Technical Committees only.
