Post and courier services
CEN develops standards in support of the Postal Services Directive (97/67/EC and its amendments). This includes the development of standards that pertain to the measurement of quality of service, hybrid mail, (automatic) identification and tracking of mail items, apertures in letter boxes, receptacles, address data, and forms to increase the interoperability of postal networks and to improve the quality of services.

Repair and maintenance services
CEN’s work on maintenance gathers generic standards on guidelines on maintenance management, including preparation of maintenance contracts, qualification of maintenance personnel, and risk-based approach.

Online gambling services
The standardization work of CEN/TC 456 ‘Reporting in support of online gambling supervision’ underpins EU policies aiming to prevent fraud and money laundering by increasing the transparency of the reporting processes to national supervisory authorities on gambling services (see standardization request M/558).
Financial and insurance services
CEN activities in this area pertain to standardization in the field of digital information interchange in the European insurance industry and financial technologies (Fintech).

Digital preservation of cinematographic works
In its 2017 Rolling Plan on ICT Standardisation the European Commission states, very few European Member States are implementing digital workflows to preserve digital or digitized cinema content and currently there is a huge diversity in digital film standards and formats. In this context, CEN/TC 457 'Digital preservation of cinematographic works' was created in order to define and standardize digital long-term archive formats for cinematographic works. This work is financed by the European Commission.
Hotel, restaurant and travel
Standardization of terminology and specification of facilities and services, which includes tourism-related and recreational activities offered by the tourism industry. The standardization work mirrors international activities of ISO/TC 228 'Tourism and related services'.

Law, marketing, consulting, recruitment
CEN activities on business services cover a suite of technical committees that define requirements on business processes related to conformity assessment laboratories, value and innovation management, services of consultancy managers etc.
A wide range of stakeholders including service industry and human resources companies, consumer representatives and testing bodies are actively involved in standardization activities related to this field. Public authorities responsible for law enforcement or market surveillance also take part in standards setting.
