Kick-Off on development of a standardization roadmap on secure chips.

To celebrate the 5th edition of the Standards+Innovation Awards, CEN and CENELEC will present their annual award ceremony as part of the stakeholder event “Making research results work for society”, on 26 October 2023.

In light of the IEC's decision to conduct their General Meeting online and the reservations expressed by many of our peers about traveling to Cairo, we have had to revaluate our plans for the "Power of Standardization in Building the African and European Single Markets" seminar. Regrettably, the seminar scheduled for Tuesday, 24 October 2023 will be cancelled.

IEC and CENELEC are committed to develop standards helping to meet today’s technological and societal challenges as well as those that society will face in the future. The high level of convergence between CENELEC and IEC standards is facilitated by the ongoing technical cooperation between both organizations, materialized by the Frankfurt Agreement.
This webinar is co-organized by CENELEC and IEC and will provide participants with an overview of the Frankfurt Agreement. Some practical information on how IEC and CENELEC work together as well as some details on the links between the European Standardization System and European legislation will be given during the webinar.

The ESOs-EC TF “Timely European standards for a Green and Digital, Single and Global Market” has reached the end of its mandate: propose solutions on how to align European policies with business priorities and standardisation, anticipate standardisation needs, improve interactions with stakeholders when drafting standardisation requests, improve the standard development process in view of the citation of the harmonised standards in the OJEU.

The objective of this new process is to improve the timely delivery of compliant harmonised Standards (hENs) by shifting the focus and the efforts for compliance at the beginning of the development process and introducing the new CCMC Quality Check (QC). The innovative process applies only to hENs which are submitted to the EC consultants’ assessment.

During this stakeholder event we will present the priorities of SESEC V and latest developments from the Chinese standardization system and China’s national standardization strategy.

Did you know that waste and pollution are largely determined by the way we design things?
Waste and pollution are not accidents, but consequence of decisions made at design stage, where about 80% of the environmental impacts are determined. Likewise, the adverse footprint on the planet left due to the extraction of resources only happens because of the way we make and consume products and materials.

This webinar aims to provide first-hand information to CENELEC Technical Bodies on the functioning and state-of-play of the process to request Common Modifications to projects in parallel with IEC, and at the inclusion of Annex Z and Annex ZA during the parallel development. We will provide further guidance and explain roles and responsibilities of the different parties as well as emphasis the right moment to introduce requests and make the relevant documentation available.

This webinar intends to explain what measures CEN and CENELEC have put in place in order to timely respond to the new provisions of the EU Reg. 2022/2480 amending EU Reg. 1025/2012, published on 19 December 2022 in the OJEU. The new regulation shall be applied as of 9 July 2023.

Main focus will be on the changes in CEN-CENELEC Internal Regulations Part 2 and the impact for CEN & CENELEC Technical Boards and Technical bodies. An overview of the main modifications in the voting tools will be provided as well.
