EN 15269-20:2020 contributes to increase fire safety in buildings

CEN/TC 127 “Fire safety in buildings” is responsible for the development of horizontal standardized methods regarding the fire behaviour of building products, components and elements of construction and their classification according to application fire risks.

In addition, CEN/TC 127 also develops standards to assess fire hazard and provide fire safety in buildings. The Secretariat is currently held by BSI, the British Standards Institution.

On 23 September 2020, CEN/TC 127 published the standard EN 15269-20:2020 ‘Extended application of test results for fire resistance and/or smoke control for door, shutter and openable window assemblies, including their elements of building hardware - Part 20: Smoke control for doors, shutters, operable fabric curtains and openable windows’.

This standard is part of a series of standards aimed to produce an extended application report based on the evaluation of one or more fire resistance and/or smoke control tests. It describes the methodology for extending the application of test results for a wide range of product variation and could contribute to the selection of test specimens.
