A new step to strengthen the inclusiveness of CEN and CENELEC System

CEN and CENELEC are committed to fostering an inclusive, open and transparent system and enhance the participation of all stakeholders in their activities, including SMEs and Civil Society representatives.

For this reason, the Annex III organizations as recognised under the EC Regulation 1025/2012 and in partnership with CEN and/or CENELEC under CEN and CENELEC Guide 25 – ANEC, ECOS, ETUC and SBS – have been granted an online access to all European normative references, further facilitating their effective contribution to the standardization process.

Normative references are references to other standards that are needed for the implementation of the specific standard being developed or revised. Access to them by the Annex III Partner Organizations is key to ensure their effective and valuable participation in the CEN and CENELEC technical work.

Together, ANEC, the European consumer voice in standardisation,  ECOS – Environmental Coalition on Standards, ETUC – European Trade Union Confederation, and SBS - Small Business Standards  are directly involved in over 200 Technical Committees across CEN and CENELEC in a wide variety of sectors.

This new step is fully aligned with CEN and CENELEC’s strategic objective to foster an inclusive CEN and CENELEC system as the gateway for standardization in Europe, as laid out in our joint Strategy 2030, and further demonstrate our commitment to the European Standardization Strategy and in particular pillar III on upholding the integrity, inclusiveness and accessibility of the European standardization system (ESS).
