The European Commission’s Strategy on Standardization, published in February 2022, called on the European Standardisation Organizations (ESOs) “to make proposals by the end of 2022 to modernise their governance to fully represent the public interest and interests of SMEs, civil society and users”.
In that context, the ETUC, together with the other Annex III organizations, ANEC, ECOS and SBS, have joined forces to prepare a common proposal to CEN and CENELEC. In the document, the four organizations have identified certain areas that could be improved, and a respective set of actions necessary to help ensure the effective participation of underrepresented stakeholders in the European Standardization System as part of a system with balanced representation.
The full text of the proposal, issued in December 2022, is available here.
