On May 16 and May 17, 2023, the Standards Institution of Israel marked its momentous 100th anniversary with a special two-day celebration.
Mr Stefano Calzolari, President of CEN, participated to this important event, representing CEN and CENELEC. He was joined by many other distinguished guests, such as Mr. Jo Cops, IEC President; Mr. Philippe Metzger, IEC Secretary-General & CEO; and Mr. Sergio Mujica, ISO Secretary-General.
The first day of the celebration focused on providing a firsthand experience of how standards play a pivotal role in various industries. The distinguished guests were taken on a tour of four leading Israeli companies, each utilizing standards in their operations to enhance innovations and ensure safety, efficiency, and quality. The delegation witnessed the rigorous testing procedures employed to guarantee compliance with safety and performance standards, promoting consumer confidence.
The second day of the celebration commenced with a prestigious gala event held at Habima –Israel's National Theater, symbolizing the culmination of a century of excellence in standardization. The Gala event provided an opportunity for the Standards Institution of Israel to express gratitude to its stakeholders and partners, including industry leaders, experts, and consumers.
Over 800 attendees enjoyed a special video address by the President of Israel, Mr. Isaac Herzog, emphasizing the pivotal role of the Standards Institution of Israel in promoting industry growth, innovation, and consumer protection. In addition, the audience was addressed by Israel's Minister of Economy, Mr. Nir Barkat, by SII's Chairman, Mr. Amir Shani, and by SII's CEO Dr. Gilad Golub.
Together with his counterparts from IEC and ISO, CEN President Stefano Calzolari addressed the audience and congratulated SII on this special event. He also handed on the stage a gift to the Chairman and CEO of SII.
The ceremony continued with the announcement of the winners of Israel's National Quality Award.
