Following the launch and circulation of the first European Standardization Panel Survey, the European Commission has now published their Final Report detailing the survey’s responses and recommendations.
It contains recommendations for industry, higher education institutes and public research organizations, standard development organizations, research funding organizations, and other innovation policy areas.
The objectives of the survey are: identify the demand from industry and other stakeholders for standards as potential results of R&I projects; assess how EU R&I framework programmes (such as Horizon Europe) could tackle them; and generally raise awareness of the importance of standardization as a knowledge valorization channel.
The survey was developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) with the support of the Department of Innovation Economics at the Technical University of Berlin, involving Prof. Knut Blind, Chair of CEN-CENELEC Working Group STAIR (Standards, Innovation & Research).
The CEN and CENELEC Presidential Committee made recommendations to the draft survey which were taken up. CEN and CENELEC also contributed to the promotion of the survey towards their Members and network, in line with their commitment to strengthen links between standards and innovation.
The final report can be viewed and downloaded from the Commission Website.
