Remember to vote!

Every year, the European Union celebrates 9 May as Europe Day. This day marks the Schuman Declaration, which was presented on 9 May 1950 and proposed the creation of a European Coal and Steel Community, precursor to the European Union. Europe Day is also an opportunity to commemorate the historical events that led to the creation of the EU.

CEN and CENELEC are proud of their long history of contributions to the European Single Market and of their partnership with the European Institutions. One of the ways we as citizens can influence the institutions – and our future – is to participate in the democratic process and go vote. The European elections are a pivotal moment where citizens directly elect MEPs who will shape new laws impacting our lives. It is a chance to collectively decide on the future of the European Union.

The European Elections will be held from 6-9 June 2024. As we prepare for this significant event, please mark your calendars and encourage others to participate in this vital electoral process. Using your vote is of great importance not only for ensuring a prosperous future, but also for encouraging inclusivity and transparency among our policy makers.

This year’s elections will hold immense implications for the Single Market. Newly elected MEPs will be responsible for shaping future laws and regulations that could directly impact Europe’s industry. This may include changes to trade policies, net-zero emission standards, accessibility standards, and safe spaces online for consumers.

It is essential that we stay informed and engaged to ensure our voices are heard and considered in the decision-making process.

The opportunity is clear: participate in the next European elections, #UseYourVote

Stay tuned for our declaration to learn what CEN and CENELEC expect of these future policy makers.
