On 23 May, the Council adopted conclusions on 'strengthening knowledge valorisation as a tool for a resilient and competitive industry and for strategic autonomy in an open economy in Europe'.
The Council conclusions focus on strengthening knowledge valorisation capacities through funding tools, policies, and frameworks, as well as reinforcing the network of intermediaries and facilitators in the innovation landscape. They also call on the Commission to foster the connection between research and technology infrastructures, facilitate access, notably for SMEs, and develop support services related to intellectual asset management, training, and regulatory or standardization aspects.
These conclusions build on the Council Recommendation on the guiding principles for knowledge valorisation adopted in 2022. They are well anchored in a series of actions undertaken by the European Commission to showcase the role of standardization in the knowledge valorisation landscape, including the Code of Practice on standardization in the European Research Area and the European Standardization Panel survey.
CEN and CENELEC welcome the recognition of the strategic value of standardization and look forward to supporting actions aimed at enhancing the knowledge valorisation landscape.
