Engineers' Day in the Republic of Croatia, held in Zagreb from February 29 to March 1, 2024, at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology of the University of Zagreb, marked the celebration of the 146th anniversary of the Croatian Engineering Association (HIS).
The Croatian Standards Institute (HZN) partnered in this significant event for the engineering community, where a series of expert lectures provided insights into various aspects of climate change and its impact on our environment. HZN has thus made a significant contribution to promoting the engineering profession.
HZN significantly contributes to promoting engineering
HZN held a presentation on "Standards and Climate Change" to the engineering audience. At the Standards Library booth, HZN showcased the Repository of Croatian standards (H RN4You) tool, a digital collection of Croatian normative documents with 10,000 users. Standards Library is HZN's information, documentation and communication centre.
As a full member of European and international standardization organizations and an independent public institution, HZN provides infrastructure for experts to work on the development of Croatian, European and international standards in various standardization fields. Currently, HZN has 170 technical committees involving 1,720 experts, predominantly engineers from different fields. HZN covers standardization in the environmental field with 8 technical committees and 3 subcommittees involving 134 experts. Environmental management systems are addressed by experts in HZN/TC 207 ‘Environmental Management’.
The HZN Department of International Cooperation and Public Relations worked on maximum media visibility for this event. HZN garnered significant media attention by organizing media appearances on radio, television, and digital business media for Engineers' Day in the Republic of Croatia.
This year's event was jointly organized by the Croatian Chamber of Engineers (HIS) and the Croatian Academy of Technical Sciences (HATZ). The theme of the event was "The Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia in Light of Climate Change". The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds, Ministry of Science and Education and the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
