The reference practice UNI/PdR 159:2024 ‘Inclusive work for people with disabilities’, promoted by the Lombardia region and Unioncamere Lombardia, aims to equip companies and organizations in the inclusion of people with disabilities in the world of work.
Through adequate training aimed at the whole staff, the practice supports the process of including people with disabilities within the workplace because they are a real added value for all organizations, able to offer an improvement in general productivity.
For companies that want to follow on this path, a regional economic incentive of 2 million euros is also provided (maximum 32,000 euros each).
Adequate workstations, the absence of architectural, sensorial-perceptive and digital barriers, and collaboration with the local authorities for job placement are indispensable elements. Furthermore, the flexible management of working hours and schedules, the presence of a strategic inclusion plan in the organization and the presence of specialized roles such as the Disability Manager or the Diversity Manager are also a requirement.
“People – the first of the 3Ps of sustainability, together with the planet and prosperity – are at the centre of particular attention in standardization: both to guarantee their safety, health and well-being, and increasingly also inclusion,” said Giuseppe Rossi, UNI President.
