The Bulgarian Institute for Standardization (BDS) and the Romanian Standards Association (ASRO), in collaboration with four universities, have just completed the implementation of a two-year project, B-Green-ED – Boosting the Green Future via University Micro-Credentials, which was funded by the European Commission's Erasmus+ Programme.
The project's primary objective is to develop and implement micro-credential courses that educate students and professionals on European and international standards that aid in the EU green transition, as well as in increasing awareness about the strategic value of education on standardization.
BDS and ASRO experts and participating university professors collaborated to develop 12 courses that cover various topics, including circular economy, renewable energy sources, carbon footprint, waste management, quality and environmental management systems, risk management, and social responsibility. The learning content was tailored to the specialities and training disciplines of the universities. BDS and ASRO supported the piloting of micro-credential courses in a digital learning environment at the partner universities.
The partners were able to create and launch 12 courses, with almost 500 participants involved, despite having planned 10 courses with 150 participants. The results were significantly better than expected. The participants’ feedback exceeded 90% in terms of satisfaction levels.
Based on the participants’ recommendations, the courses will be enhanced and will remain part of the universities’ portfolios.
