The Italian Organization for Standardization received the special award for Sustainability Communication at the 60th edition of Oscar di Bilancio, organized by FERPI, the Italian Public Relations Federation, Italian Stock Exchange, and Bocconi University.
The award, started in 2020, recognizes the commitment to creating a Sustainability Report that communicates complex issues – which standardization can sometimes be – in clear terms and methods, with fluid and understandable storytelling, where data and qualitative information are balanced, where the performance indicators are clearly evident, and so are the results (achieved or not) and the impact generated according to the UN Agenda 2030.
Furthermore, the interactive digital version allows you to easily delve into numerous topics by connecting directly to the website, and its accessible version guarantees use by visually impaired and disabled people, without any barriers. The Award – presented at the prestigious ceremony held on 13th December in Milan at Palazzo Mezzanotte – confirms UNI's commitment to transparent and innovative communication for sustainability, which has its roots in the adoption of UNI EN ISO 26000 at a strategic level as its management model.
Gianna Zappi, Deputy General Director of Sustainability and Valorisation at UNI, in expressing satisfaction with the result, confirms the organization's desire to continue in this direction: "This recognition pushes us to continue with even greater commitment towards a world well done. Our 2023 Sustainability Report is characterized by the transparency of information, universal accessibility, and an inclusive language, testifying – concretely – the values in which we believe. It is a result that motivates us to continue on the path of innovation in sustainability communication."
“The FERPI Oscar di Bilancio is a traditional event, but also a moment of precious rethinking on the near future of businesses and organizations. ESG reporting, CSRD, and transparency are just some of the tracks on which the train of change runs, but they are fundamental tracks. Public relations are called to contribute to ensuring a surplus of transparency and authenticity today if they want to build stable and trusting relationships with stakeholders," Filippo NANI, president of FERPI, commented.
The 2024 Oscar di Bilancio Awards were awarded to organizations that stood out for their transparency, innovation and commitment to sustainability, divided into the following categories:
