New ‘CEN Workshop based on H2020 TRICK Project to Enhance traceability and sustainability Data Collection in Textile Supply Chains’

A new CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) is currently being developed to establish guidelines aimed at enabling and optimizing data collection along textile supply chains, with the objective of improving traceability, transparency, and sustainability claims, in line with European regulations. This CWA will build upon the outcomes of the TRICK project, a research and innovation initiative funded by the Horizon 2020 program, which leverages blockchain technology to support circular economy principles and product traceability.

The CWA will provide practical and applicable guidelines for companies in the textile sector, based on existing standardized specification and methodologies, facilitating the collection and validation of information along the highly fragmented supply chain, essential for future declarations required by the Digital Product Passport (DPP), as regulated by the Eco-Design for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). Although not intended for direct data exchange within the DPP framework, this CWA is designed to prepare companies for upcoming regulatory requirements.

The CWA will not impose mandatory requirements but will offer a reference framework for the textile industry. In particular, it will act as a guideline for the stakeholders, both industry and IT and service providers, based on the experience gained from the TRICK project.

The CWA will share best practices for the data collection required for the future implementation of the DPP, for example for managing data integrity and confidentiality, with the aim of supporting the industry in achieving sustainability and traceability goals.

The virtual kick-off meeting will take place on 5th December from 14h-17h. Interested participants can register to the kick-off meeting by sending an e-mail to fabio.rossi@uni.com.

All interested parties are also invited to submit comments on the draft Project Plan using the designated commenting form provided below.
