Call for Experts: Join the RISERS Working Groups on Industrial Symbiosis Standardization

CEN and CENELEC, in collaboration with DIN, are launching the development of the Industrial Symbiosis (IS) Standardization Roadmap as part of the Horizon Europe RISERS project. This roadmap will guide the future of standardization in Industrial Symbiosis, addressing key barriers, opportunities, and best practices to support resource efficiency, waste reduction, and circular economy objectives.

To support this effort, we are forming Working Groups (WGs) that will bring together expertise to shape the standardization landscape for Industrial Symbiosis.

Who are we looking for?

We invite experts, policymakers, industry representatives (large companies and SMEs), researchers, standardization bodies, clusters, and NGOs to participate in the WGs.

Your role in the Working Groups

As a WG member, you will

  • define standardization priorities for IS, aligning with policies, regulatory needs, and market trends;
  • collaborate with experts from diverse sectors to assess key challenges and standardization gaps;
  • influence the future of standardization in key areas, such as waste heat, steel slag, EV batteries, packaging, biomass, textiles, energy data, and End-of-Waste criteria;
  • support the development of thematic reports that will feed into the final Industrial Symbiosis Standardization Roadmap.

Key dates

  • Registration Deadline: 21 March 2025
  • Kick-off Meeting: 28 March 2025 (Online)
  • Working Group Meetings: April–June & September–October 2025
  • Final Hybrid Plenary Session in Brussels: November 2025

By joining the RISERS Working Groups, you will have the unique opportunity to shape European standardization efforts, expand your professional network, and contribute to the advancement of Industrial Symbiosis.
