The objective of forensic methods is to obtain results with a measurement quality relevant (e.g., consistent, reliable and accurate) for the criminal justice system. This means that during the introduction or implementation of new forensic methods/technologies a specific step must be taken to prove in an objective way that the method is suitable for its intended use.

Lipids are a class of natural organic substances characterized by a very low water solubility, a high organic solvent solubility and a high carbon and hydrogen content. They can be used, for example, to produce biofuels. In Europe, there is growing interest in algae and algae-based products or intermediates as they are a valuable source of many nutrients, such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and pigments. They can be used in a variety of sectors, including food, textiles, cosmetics, or biofuel.

This workshop is motivated by the industry need to identify and clarify the performance criteria of paint and coating systems for defence and security applications. There are numerous international, European, and national paint standards, but they do not take account of military constraints, which are different from those in the civilian sector. This is especially true of testing and performances criteria for land, air, and naval weapons.

EDU4Standards.eu is a brand-new research project funded by the Horizon Europe programme under Grant Agreement No. 101135705. CEN is partner in the EDU4Standards.eu, which is led by Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and brings together key players in education on standardization in Europe, including 11 university partners from across Europe.

Brussels, 12 January - Taking over from the Spanish Presidency, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union began on the 1st of January and will continue until June 2024. CEN and CENELEC, together with their Belgian members, NBN, the Belgian Organization for Standards and Standardization, and CEB-BEC, the Belgian Electrotechnical Committee, are committed to collaborating with the Belgian Presidency to ensure that European Standards are recognized as a vital tool for both present and future issues facing the European Union.

The CEN-CENELEC Workshop on ‘Innovative solutions for user centric charging infrastructure for electric vehicles' was kicked off on 7 July 2023.

Standardisation of Raman devices and Raman data spectroscopy is receiving strong interest in recent years due to the broad expansion in number and type of Raman devices and the need to assure data exchange and data consistency along devices and the across different units and sampling configurations.
