The CEN and CENELEC Work Programme 2023 has been published and is now available.
On 23 January, Elena Santiago Cid, Director General of CEN and CENELEC, was invited to speak at the European Parliament during the hearing on Standardization in the Single Market held by the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO).
The Workshop Agreement is the result of the initiative of AFNOR, IEEE and VDE to identify the needs for standardization about the concept of Digital Sovereignty in the European context.
Brussels, 20 January - On Friday, 20 January, the Presidents of CEN and CENELEC participated in the inaugural meeting of the High-Level Forum on European Standardization. The event was an opportunity to initiate a collective reflection on future standardization priorities in support of European policies and the Single Market.
The Bulgarian Institute for Standardization (BDS) and the Romanian Standards Association (ASRO), in partnership with four universities, started in November 2022 the implementation of a two-year project, B-Green-ED - Boosting the Green Future via University Micro-Credentials, funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Commission.
Brussels/Stockholm - 17 January 2023, European Standards are essential to enabling trade, innovation, and the twin transition within the EU Single Market. CEN, CENELEC and their Swedish members, SIS and SEK, welcome Sweden’s Presidency of the EU Council and are ready to work together towards a greener, more secure and freer Europe.
The new year is an opportunity to start things right. In this spirit, on 13 January, the directors of CEN and CENELEC met with the new Chief Standardization Officer of the European Commission, Maive Rute, for a strategic conversation on European Standardization. Mrs Rute was accompanied by Sophie Müller, Head of Unit, and Matthias Bergdahl, Deputy Head of Unit Standards Policy at the European Commission.
The preparations for the High-Level Forum on European Standardization officially began on 10 January 2023, with the first meeting of the Sherpa sub-group. CEN and CENELEC are proud to be sending three experts each to the Sherpa sub-group, to contribute to the coordination of the Green, Digital, and Resilient priorities which will steer the work of High-Level Forum.
ANEC’s President Dermott Jewell participated in the first meeting of the High-Level Forum on European Standardization on 20 January, chaired by Commissioner Thierry Breton, and aided by Chief Standardization Officer, Maive Rute.
