CEN (European Committee for Standardization) and CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) are proud to announce a new partnership agreement with DIGITALEUROPE — a leading trade association that represents digitally transforming industries across Europe. This collaboration heralds a significant alignment between the digital industry and the European standardization ecosystem, strengthening efforts to address critical challenges and seize opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

European standards deliver quality, innovation, and efficiency for industry and consumers across Europe, while also supporting economic growth and facilitating international trade. CEN, CENELEC and their Polish member, Polski Komitet Normalizacyjny – PKN, welcome Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and look forward to leveraging the power of standards to support its goals.

As we enter a new mandate of the European Parliament and the European Commission, CEN, CENELEC, and MSZT (the Hungarian Standards Institution) welcome the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and look forward to leveraging the role of standardization in this key time.

CEN and CENELEC have entered into a significant agreement with the Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine (CCNR) to advance the standardization of inland navigation. This collaboration aims to improve standardization processes and safety measures in inland waterway transport. It has been formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the three organizations on 9 April.

Finding ways to use alternative fuels like electricity, biofuels, and hydrogen in transportation comes with its own set of hurdles. Imagine setting up charging stations for electric cars across Europe, ensuring airplanes use sustainable fuels, or making ships more environmentally friendly. Luckily, standards can help, as highlighted by a workshop organized by CEN and CENELEC on 18 April.

On 17 April, CEN and CENELEC, two of the official European Standardization Organizations, hosted JISC (the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee) in their Brussels headquarters to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their Cooperation Agreement.

Yesterday, 26 March, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European General Galvanizers Association (EGGA-Galvanizing Europe) signed a partnership agreement that will foster collaboration and align the interests of the galvanizing industry in Europe with the standardization ecosystem.

On 7 March, the five Regional Quality Infrastructure Organizations of Europe, the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the European Committee for electrotechnical standardization (CENELEC), the European co-operation for Accreditation (EA), the Association of the National Metrology Institutes in Europe (EURAMET), and the European Cooperation in Legal Metrology (WELMEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create the European Ql Network.

A Memorandum of Understanding enhances the commitment to develop maximum synergies between the different European Standards developed by EFRAG and by CEN and CENELEC in the field of sustainability reporting. The aim is to facilitate the implementation of sustainability reporting requirements for European businesses.

Brussels, 12 January - Taking over from the Spanish Presidency, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union began on the 1st of January and will continue until June 2024. CEN and CENELEC, together with their Belgian members, NBN, the Belgian Organization for Standards and Standardization, and CEB-BEC, the Belgian Electrotechnical Committee, are committed to collaborating with the Belgian Presidency to ensure that European Standards are recognized as a vital tool for both present and future issues facing the European Union.
