On the 2nd of March, the CEN and CENELEC Focus Group Organ-on-Chip (FGOoC) had its Kick-off Meeting. More than 80 stakeholders participated and discussed the potential for standardization and the way forward in this innovative field of biomedical technology.

On 5 April, the ETUC submitted its reply to the consultation on the proposed amendment to article 10 of Regulation (EU) 1025/2012 on European standardization, which the European Commission had issued as part of the new European Standardization Strategy package on 2 February.
On 15 June 2022, SBS will organise its annual conference on the topic of “SMEs setting the standard for sustainable products – Drivers and challenges”. The Workshop’s aim is to define a framework for developing age-appropriate digital services for situations where users are children. This topic is relevant for both organisations, CEN and CENELEC.
Privacy and personal data protection are essential in our current society as our offline and digital experiences are increasingly entwined. To ensure that these essential values are taken into account early on in the development of products and services, newly developed EN 17529 ‘Data protection and privacy by design and by default’ provides manufacturers and service providers with requirements before, or independently of, any specific application integration.

The planned CEN Workshop specifies an assessment of pandemic crisis prediction and management tools. The planned workshop is intended to be used by national planners in the area of crisis management (with a particular focus on epidemic and pandemic crises) and first responders dealing with the crisis situations after their outbreaks.
