The objective of forensic methods is to obtain results with a measurement quality relevant (e.g., consistent, reliable and accurate) for the criminal justice system. This means that during the introduction or implementation of new forensic methods/technologies a specific step must be taken to prove in an objective way that the method is suitable for its intended use.

This workshop is motivated by the industry need to identify and clarify the performance criteria of paint and coating systems for defence and security applications. There are numerous international, European, and national paint standards, but they do not take account of military constraints, which are different from those in the civilian sector. This is especially true of testing and performances criteria for land, air, and naval weapons.

This draft CWA defines/establishes/specifies CBRNe-related sensor data formats and protocols to support forensics investigations. The CWA is applicable to/is intended to be used by forensics analytics and crime scene investigators. The CWA does not apply to/is not intended to be used by professionals not trained in forensics investigation.

The CEN Workshop ‘Exchanging of building and infrastructure damage information with the Common Alerting Protocol’ was kicked off on 22 March 2022. The Workshop’s registered participants have agreed on the final draft of the CWA.

While time is an important factor for successful outcome of the crime investigation, the traditional forensic examinations are usually time consuming. It can be very problematic when investigations are underway and quick results are needed. Traces must be detected on-site as soon as possible before they degrade and loose forensic information important for criminal investigation.
