Isabelle Schömann, ETUC Confederal Secretary, was invited to speak at the 7th European conference on standardization, testing and certification in the field of occupational safety and health (EUROSHNET), which took place in Paris on 20 October. The Conference was dedicated this year to ‘Artificial Intelligence meets Safety and Health at work’, and Ms. Schömann participated in the roundtable addressing ‘The challenges of AI on standardization, testing and certification’, where she noted that standards are not sufficient to protect workers from the application of AI systems at work.
In a recently published position paper, CEN (the European Committee for Standardization) and CENELEC (the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) warmly welcome the draft “Code of Practice on Standardization for Researchers” proposed by the European Commission.
On 14 October 2022, CEN and CENELEC join the international standardization community in celebrating World Standards Day. On 12 October, negotiators from the European Parliament and the Council of the EU struck a political agreement on the Amendment proposed to Regulation 1025/2012, which regulates standardization in Europe. In-Mould Electronics (IME), also known as plastronics, is used to enhance the device integration process, increasing resistance to humidity and wear and tear, and adding custom-made connectors.
