Data is the backbone of the digital economy: it enables economic growth and competitiveness, fosters innovation, improves public services, and advances scientific research.
The motivation for this workshop comes from the Horizon Europe funded project MARBEFES - MARine Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functioning leading to Ecosystem Services (Grant Agreement no 101060937). One aspect of the project aims to achieve ecological and socio-economic valuation through a validated set of innovative tools. As part of the development of these tools, the project identified the need for a common methodology for ecosystem valuation which could be applied across European waters.

The CEN and CENELEC Technical Boards (BTs) decided to create a CEN and CENELEC Coordination Group on Hydrogen (CEN-CLC/COG H2). The aim is to ensure more coherence across the whole set of hydrogen standards. CEN and CENELEC Members are invited to nominate representatives to the coordination group.
On 11 July, CEN and CENELEC, together with ETSI, shared their vision for the role of standardization in ICT at the telecommunications and information society working party meeting hosted by the Hungarian Presidency.
As we enter a new mandate of the European Parliament and the European Commission, CEN, CENELEC, and MSZT (the Hungarian Standards Institution) welcome the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and look forward to leveraging the role of standardization in this key time.

The CEN Workshop on ‘COURAGEOUS on testing methodology for C-UAS systems’ was kicked off on 4 August 2023. The Workshop’s registered participants have now agreed on the final draft of the CWA.
