To mark World Standards Day on 14 October, ANEC joined the dedicated social media campaign ’Shared vision for a better world: Spotlight on SDG 9 ‘Industry, innovation, and infrastructure in the age of AI’, organized by the international standardization organizations: IEC, ISO and ITU.

The 35^th ANEC General Assembly meeting held on 11-12 June 2024 in Brussels endorsed the ANEC Annual Review 2023/2024. The report showcases ANEC's key accomplishments in 2023 and the work planned for 2024.  

ANEC was delighted to moderate a panel at the Microsoft Accessibility Summit 2024, titled “Reflecting on accessibility achievements & the road ahead in the next 5 years”. The panel was moderated by Chiara Giovannini, Deputy Director-General and Senior Manager Policy and Innovation at ANEC.

Fair and Responsible Artificial Intelligence for Consumers was the theme of Consumers International’s campaign for World Consumer Rights Day 2024, celebrated each year on 15 March. To mark the occasion, ANEC hosted a training on ‘Influencing AI standards that deliver for civil society – the international approach’.

ANEC is delighted to have agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS), related to the university’s International and European Law Programme.

Ahead of the 2024 European elections, ANEC has joined other stakeholders working on fire safety in the EU in launching a campaign that calls for an EU Fire Safety Strategy.

As the European Commissioner Thierry Breton said on 7 June during a press event, “It is a great day for consumers and the environment”.

On 15 October 2021, ANEC hosted a wide-ranging webinar on sustainable finance and standardization.
