Guide 17 is an important CEN and CENELEC document that aims to raise awareness on the issues that are important to SMEs in the development of standards. For World Standards Day on 14 October 2024, CEN and CENELEC, together with SBS, the European association representing SMEs in standardization, produced a video to facilitate the participation of SMEs in standardization by promoting Guide 17.

In January, SBS published two position papers outlining its recommendations to ensure the interests and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in standardization at the national and international levels. The objective of the publications is to strengthen the participation, role and impact of SMEs and SME experts in the national and international standardization systems.
From 14 to 21 November 2023, SBS (Small Business Standards) organized the first edition of Meeting Standards. Coinciding with the European SME week, this initiative has significantly contributed to enhancing SME awareness of the crucial role of standards in Europe.
Small Business Standards (SBS), the association representing European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in standardisation, has developed the first SME Compatibility Test for Standards. The online test, easily accessible from SBS website, can be used by any standard maker who wish to assess the SME-compatibility of a standard.
