Guide 17 is an important CEN and CENELEC document that aims to raise awareness on the issues that are important to SMEs in the development of standards. For World Standards Day on 14 October 2024, CEN and CENELEC, together with SBS, the European association representing SMEs in standardization, produced a video to facilitate the participation of SMEs in standardization by promoting Guide 17.
On 14 October, CEN and CENELEC join the international standardization community to celebrate World Standards Day. Under the motto “Shared visions for a better world”, the event is an opportunity to highlight the many ways in which international standards contribute to building a sustainable future.
“A Strong Single Market needs a Strong European Standardization System”: CEN and CENELEC brought their messages for the new legislative cycle to the European Parliament. During the September plenary session of the European Parliament, CEN and CENELEC shared their call for a reinforced public-private partnership within the European Standardization System with MEPs and other stakeholders.
Inclusiveness and Diversity are core values of the CEN and CENELEC system and are essential to develop standards that equally benefit everyone. For this reason, we are especially proud to announce the publication of a new CEN and CENELEC brochure: How to Be Gender-Responsive in Standardization.
CEN and CENELEC are excited to share their Declaration for the next legislative cycle. In it, the two organizations call upon the European institutions to commit to priorities that enable a well-functioning Single Market supported by a strong European Standardization System.
On 30 June, the call for nominations to the CEN and CENELEC Standards+Innovation Awards 2024 closed. A total of 25 nominations have been put forward by the CEN and CENELEC Members, representing valuable contributions to work on standardization.

On 17 April, CEN and CENELEC, two of the official European Standardization Organizations, hosted JISC (the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee) in their Brussels headquarters to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their Cooperation Agreement.
