CEN and CENELEC are fully committed to ensuring that, through their standards, goods and services are equally accessible to all. In this context, they just released the updated “CEN-CENELEC Protocol on accessibility following a Design for All approach in standardization”. The protocol outlines the procedure to help technical bodies decide whether accessibility, with a Design for All approach, should be addressed when developing or revising a standardization deliverable.
Today, Thursday 20 May 2021, marks the tenth Global Accessibility Awareness Day (#GAAD). The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access/inclusion and people with different disabilities.
CEN-CLC/JTC 11 ‘Accessibility in the built environment’ develops standardization deliverables as requested by the mandate M/420 ‘European accessibility requirements for public procurement in the built environment’.
The Spanish Association for Standardization, UNE, and Fundación ONCE, are organising the workshop ‘Towards common European criteria on accessibility of the built environment: Outcomes of Mandate M/420’ on 22 March 2021 from 10:00 to 12:00.
